OK, if we are going to break down, it is noce to have it happen 40 miles from home
-
If you have to breakdown it is good to breakdown either at home or close to it...LOL
Well, Sean is relaxing and watching TV. I have been cleaning out the truck and now getting ready to reorganize it and make more room in there. I can leave some things here at the house now, which will help. -
This might sound dumb, but what is Super Solo? I have seen it mentioned here several times and was just wondering....
-
well had a kinda bad day but was rec fault they closed before i could get there and the load was picked up 3 days late but atleast they are working with me and keeping up the communication which i like after i drop this tomorrow got a run from rich va to chicago so will be at 1000 miles already for the week
-
it's only dumb if you don't ask
super solo is when you have two drivers but they each only drive around 8 hr's a day. so the truck is only moving for around 16hr's a day not 24.
longer runs that a solo can make but less than a true team, if that helpstransportHER Thanks this. -
the month to month part is ONLY if they don't have a lease truck ready at the time. you will be renting a truck until they have one for you.
the lease is for 1 year.
think hard about it before you do it. alot ALOT of drivers don't make it.
look at all the runs you have had for the last 6-12 months and see just how much you would have made if it was a lease truck and remember FUEL
we had a run that was 6708 paid miles a week and as company drivers we (each cleared) $1000 a week, as a lease (we are o/o'p now) we would have made $8,100 (with fsc) BUT fuel would have been $4100-$4400 a week. so we would have made $4000-$3700 a week now think about truck payment (team lease is $640 a week) .05cpm breakdown plus .02cpm tire fund thats $469.56 road tax $45.95, insurance for the truck and for both of you about $200 a week (NOT HEALTH INSURANCE)
so you made $8,100 and in you pocket you have $2645. or $645 more than being a company team....!
what if you breakdown if it's not under warranty YOU pay, you sit for 2-5 days in the motel YOU pay. taxes YOU pay..
yes you can sit home all you want BUT all you fixed cost happen if the truck is moving or not. we have a friend that is in the lease and it's not uncommon when they leave home to owe usx money (you know that little box at the botton when you send mac 51 that says YOU OWE..?)
on the run we had if we ran 70 mph unstead of 65 it would cost an extra $600 in fuel a week..! that is why we driver 63, if you idle YOU pay
if you or anyone wants to lease a truck i say look VERY hard at the numbers and then if it works go out and buy a truck, it's cheaper
my friends payment is $2800 a month ($640 X 52 / 12 = $2800) my truck payment is $1150 a month so if we make the same runs all month we make the same BUT i have an extra $1550 a month
did i say don't do it NO but look very hard into it first. alot of people do it without looking at ALL the numbers.NoCoCraig Thanks this. -
If it hadn't been for being able to run Super Solo we would not have made it home the other night. My day started at 5am, we sat for 8 hours, Sean started her day around 3pm, and we made it home at 8:30pm.
Well said, Flood.....that is exactly why I will not be a lease driver. I was self-employed for years and love being able to just work and let someone else worry about all the bills and paperwork. -
Well they asked me to help on a dedicated run for a couple weeks and I said yes..make $$$ no matter if I run or sit its set amount per day most runs are under 400 miles, all drop n hook..cool gonna collect a little dough ..lol, I'm in northern georgia gonna del in southern georgia
/ florida line in the morning then sit til monday morning and still get paid..I think I can handle that..lol -
