Is this true, they are hiring solo's apparently, but solo's are forced to team for 6 months?????
Sounds like they want teams, to me!

Any help or info will be appreciated!

They just started this with the new drivers straight out of CDL school.. You go to orientation, like everyone else, than a trainer for 120 hours, than you team with another newbie like yourself. I have heard though from others that if you really push it, you may not have to but thats just rumors. Good luck

    bigdipper Thanks this.

Team, there's a four letter word for me. And they want to put two drivers fresh out of training together. What is the mortality rate for this kind of action.

The 120 with a trainer is fine, I'm sure I'll learn tons of stuff.....but then with another "nitwit" newbie like myself???
No offense, but I'd much rather ride with ROCKY, my dog!

when I went through orientation feb 06 12. that was the game plan. due your hours with the trainer, then "run team" with another rookie for six months they figure one may know something the other might not know. lucky me, I only had to do
50 hrs due to exp i have. good luck to all who have to team.

That could be a "deal" breaker for me.........there's just too many companies out there......I even applied on-line with a company that I probably won't go to in order to get a "pre-hire" letter that I needed.
Six months of required teaming AFTER the trainer is not something I'm not crazy about.......but, we'll see!

gnx, how you likin' USX, so far?

two rookies with only 120hrs of training in one truck? amazing! That sounds like a wonderful idea, who is the idiot that thought of that?

Wow!! I thought Watkins and Shepard were crazy with 10 days of Orientation and then out to your own truck on your own, Putting to knumbshulls together is worse, they will compete and then all he(( will let loose!!. If you trust your life in the hands of someone else go "Team" if not and like a nice quiet sleep with only a loud reefer next to you then go Solo! I would NEVER Go team I can not sleep in a moving vehicle, I don't care how smooth the ride is. Good Luck Guys!!!!

I don't know how 2 numskulls is worse than one, only one numskull is driving at a time and hopefully any signs that someone thinks driving a truck is a game or they have the feeling its a competition is identified by their trainer and they get washed out long before they can kill themselves or anyone else.

What I'm curious about is why everyone thinks that they are going to be a better driver than the guy they get teamed up with.

Every one of you guys will have went to driving school and spent time with a trainer until you are ready (and I use that term loosely) to drive on your own without supervision. 120 hours with the trainer is the minimum, but you better believe that if he or she doesn't think that you are ready, he is not going to cut you loose. Its his call on when you are ready to upgrade.

Maybe they are just forcing newbs to team up in the hopes that they will continue to run team after that, I don't know.

I do know is that everyone was "new" once. When I first started driving on my own I felt that I was ready to handle the vehicle on my own, which I probably wasn't. There were lots of things that I was unsure of and a lot of time got wasted trying to figure them out on my own. I think that having someone else around to learn with might have been alright.

Certainly, an extra set of eyes to watch out for you when you get to that place with limited pull up space and the 379 Pete with the 300" wheelbase that you have to back around and in next to, in the rain, at night, with 5 other drivers waiting for you to hurry up and get outta the way and you realize that you really do still suck at backing up might be good.

P.S. Its only 8 weeks with that guy your afraid to sleep behind anyways, not 6 months.:biggrin_25525: Make the best of it!
