Just wondering why you only worked that one for a week? Were you out of Delaware? They're trying to get me to come on with them, as Asphalt for Shelly out of Toledo gets slow in the winter. 950 a week is better than unemployment; just looking around. Reply appreciated; thanks!

Did you ever take this job, Jim? If so, any info??????? I haul asphalt mostly; some oversize concrete on a FB as well; but this slows down in Ohio in the winter, as you know. I've been offered that USX job out of Delaware, and home daily (as I am now, which is what I need due to family) and was just wondering... any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hope to start school in couple weeks. A former co-worker of mine went on that gig after he did time with Schneider. He seemed to be pretty happy with it. I live near 270 and 23 so really close to home. I was thinking about Swift since they are off West Broad but heck if I can be home every day why not?
I looked at Henderson and been approved for their school and could start there November 16th. Decisions decisions.

Henderson's academy is good, so I hear; but you might be beholden to them.... not sure. If USX will take you for that Kroger run out of Dellie and home DAILY ... #### good opportunity. Still not sure yet here. Looking at MYCO out of Marion, hauling for Whirlpool. As far as Swift; they are just not so "swift" so I hear. Hope Chinatown stops by and chimes in soon. Keep in touch; I'm not far from ya...... maybe we can figure this out...! PS~ good luck with school. It's not that hard. I graduated in 2004; wife working on hers!

I would imagine these are mostly drop and hook with some live unload?

I did Kroger for FirstFleet out of the Peyton's warehouse in Cleveland TN for a while. It was pretty easy. Pick up a loaded trailer then you have anywhere from 2 to 6 stores on each route. Then pick up a back haul going back to the warehouse. I don't know about USX, but with FirstFleet the backhauls were almost always a drop n hook at the shipper, because we always picked up at the same places, then drop it at the warehouse and go home for your 10.

I just didn't like the lack of a set schedule. You never knew what time your outbound loads would leave until the night before. Might be 2 am or it might be noon. Also never knew what your day off would be. There was no way to plan for anything outside of work. Some of those stores could be real tight getting in and out too, especially the older ones (I still have nightmares about the one on Ponce de Leon Ave in midtown ATL). The money was very good too, but I have no idea what USX pays.

    SHOJim Thanks this.

Thanks. A former co-worker of mine does it. Been there about 3 years now I guess. His wife said she would have him call me so I can get his take on it.
