would you O/Os start up a truck operation now with a flatbed..??? It seems rough for them...or are there just too many rigs right now??

The rates are not doing great on the flat side. Its why Im still pulling a van right now. Plus its been a weird spring, the flats and steps just recently started picking up. Ive been keeping an eye on it. Rates are not expected to really go up until next year, but any projections that far out are unreliable, hell they predicted a huge spring that never came together.

You have it made. Flatbed rates according to fleet owner are still higher than van and reefer and having slipped but I have yet to see the rates fleet owner is talking about. I was checking a board again today and the flatbed rates are still about the same as they were when I got out of it. Not impressed at all with flatbed rates. If I could yank a dry van around I probably would at this point in time but I don't have a van to drag around so the headache racks going back on my tractor tomorrow and I'll start yanking my skateboard around again.

Skateboards are cooler looking than vans. They're also shorter. And I love the toolboxes.
