Yeah Mattaponi Guard, I am rather disappointed to say the least. I have learned over the past several months that your old stomping ground and my current home is not the most advantageous place for trucking companies to hire from. I always make it a point for those I talk with to know exactly where I live and how far I am from Interstate 95. The mega companies will hire me, for low mileage pay, weeks on the road and so forth so when Van Wyk actually called me and Jeanne told me they could hire me I was certainly excited. Fortunately for me I have a great and understanding boss, this entire situation could have turned out disastrous. But, it is what it is and I will continue to search for the right fit for my family and I. Thanks again for all your input and advice over the past few weeks, I really do appreciate it.

1tidefan... Call Schneider to see if you can work on thier Wal-Mart account out of Gordonsville. I wish I could give you the terminal number but they've been looking for drivers for the longest and its a great starting job for a rookie for decent pay. If you call the recruiting number they might say you're not qualified. But just food for thought... When I worked their I knew guys who lived 4 hours away on the shore

That's a surprise, considering that they had a lot of drivers running out of the waynesboro office, did they close that up? I remember hearing a lot about Cory heading back to Iowa.

Waynesboro is still alive and well, just a driver shortage if anything. Cory couldn't get rid of his house or something so he never left.

hey hawkjr, I actually began filling out the app for Schneider on their Gordonsville DC run and when I got to my zip code portion of my address it wouldn't let me continue. Maybe a call to recruiting is in order.
i spoke with a former driver on that run and she said the wait time at the DC could sometimes kill you or force you to run loads out of the Gordonsville network. She said this wasn't too bad but it was a struggle to get back on the board for Gordonsville once you went out of the network. Can you shed any insight or experience on this?
    thanks for the info.

You know, if they are in need for good drivers it makes me wonder if Cory would be willing to split the difference with me and allow me to park the truck right off of 95 on my home time, like in Mchanicsville, Glenn Allen or Doswell. All three would be about 1/2 between my home and the terminal. Seems it could be a win, win.
i totally get his position, 122 miles, 8 miles to the gallon, the cost of fuel, yeah totally get it.

Unless this started happening after I left, I haven't experienced anything such. You leave the DC with up to 4 stops, get the last stop off, either you come back empty or pick up a backhaul. There was times you would help out Bedford in PA or Henderson in NC but you would always return back to Gordonsville after.

And I doubt Van Wyk would let you do that whole parking deal. If you was to bring a load home they would want you to keep an eye on that load every so often

Was the pay very good? How was the home time? They advertise a decent cent per mile and decent benefits, figuring you can get the miles. They advertise weekly home time. Was this normal.

yeah, I didn't think about having a refrigerated load that would need to be looked after. I may give Jeanne a call and at least ask and then give Schnieder a call tomorrow.

thanks again for the insight, I do appreciate it!
