You can also go 385 at Dalhart, to Boise City, but that used to be really rough. There's also a farm to market at Conlen, TX that'll take you to Keyes, OK, but the Texas part is 73,280#.

Ya, 15, 80 should prove to be an easier drive. You'll pull a grade just east of Salt Lake, but it ain't nothing like the pull up to eisenhower tunnel. There's another pull from Jct I-84/I-80 to Evanston, but it's even easier than the one east of SLC. I-15 from Jct. I-70, north to SLC, is a piece of cake. Hope this helps.

    a) all the trucker trash on I-80

    b) I-70 has some big humps on it, no doubt! But a good running truck can turn Beaver, UT to Big Springs, NE quicker than on I-80. Between the humps, 70 has a flatter profile than 80, and high winds aren't as prevalent.

    c) I must admit that the 3 Colorado scale time-stamps vote for 80.

    d) All the trucker trash on I-80. :)

The mountains ain't whats bad about 70....... It's all the crazy 4-wheelers goin' to the mountains (especially ski season). I've lived in Colorado dang near all my life..... I know what I'm talkin' 'bout. Those clowns are about the worst I've come across.

Thats everywhere in the world. I put up with it running thru cleveland and the rolling hills across 480 last week. Then the morons cut in front of me slam on the brakes just to just 3 lanes over to get off the exit. If they only had a clue.

Every 10-14 days I make a run from MI to the bay area in CA. It's pretty much i80 the whole trip. I've been through the WY POE's (all of them) quite a few times now... Registration, IFTA, what are you hauling, have a nice day is all I've ever heard from them.

Well, this is certainly useful information:biggrin_2559: Thanks!

My bad... I wasn't very clear. I'm on my way back to MI from CA. Choose to take my 34 in Vegas:biggrin_25525: Trip was: MI - union city, CA - Fresno, CA -back to MI.

This route is about 66 miles more than running 70. I'll probably try it. I much prefer 80 to 70 as well.

I think you are talking about Parleys Summit on 80 east of SLC. I actually enjoy eisenhower and vail on 70 but it's the "other" 9 million "bumps" along the way that annoy me.

9 million grades, tight twisty corridors, less parking, and the traffic situation I'm imagining just east of Denver over the holiday weekend with no real room to get around the result of the certain stupidity that goes along with holiday traffic. I doubt I have to explain to you how much fun 70 is in the winter at times. Though, I'll concede WY(80) isn't much better in the winter.

Last night I was coming up 15 in CA about an hour south of the NV line when a CHP officer came around me on the left and all of the sudden he cut me off BAD and then went on to pull off on the shoulder. I seriously would have hit him if there was anyone in the hammer lane restricting me from getting over. What, you ask was so important to make such a ####### move ? An abandoned vehicle! It seriously was the dumbest move I've seen around me in at least a week.:biggrin_25523:
