Can a O/O with his own authority or does it have to be company verifiable. Another words if I get a job with a friend who's an O/O but not leased with anyone is that verifiable experience.

That may depend on the company. But they'll want all his info like number, address ect and they'll call him to varify you drove for him.

I misunderstood the question. What do you mean is that varifiable exp?You have to have drove to qualify for varifiable exp.

Thanks pattyj. I'm starting out and I hate the thought of going with a trainer not knowing who they are and I know it would be almost impossible for me to sleep when the truck is moving. So my preference would be with a friend who has his own truck but I want to make sure that in the future when looking for work I can use him as a verifiable reference.

Just make sure if you do ever quit driving for him that you left on good terms because otherwise he may say some not so nice things about you to the company you want to drive for.

I would suck it up and get with a larger company. They are more reliable then your friend. What happens if your friend passes away in 6 months. A company uses verifiable OTR for pay purposes and they will do all they can to make excuses on why to pay you at a lower rate, and because its just some guys who have his own authority word. About you driving for a year or 2 in all 48. They might not accept that and still send you out with a trainer for a couple of weeks, and start you out at rookie pay.

Also people who go into different forms of trucking such as tanker or flatbed. Even if they have 20 years experience still have to go out with a trainer for a couple of weeks. Just put yourself in the company's shoes. Do you hire the guy who drove for Swift for a year and his DAC is clean. Or do you go with the guy who say's he drove for his owner operator friend with his own authority for a year.

It's up to you but you will be swimming against the current rather then with it. There are companies out there like Watkins and Shepard in which you don't even go out with a trainer. Not sure if they hire in your area or not.

Thanks dinomite. My buddy is actually in Phoenix Az. I'm getting my ### out of here, south florida is the land that time forgot and moving there so it will be much easier to get hired out there, anywhere other then florida for sure. I will give Watkins and Shepard a call. I believe someone here mentioned that Watkins has a 10 day orientation and then they send you out on your own, maybe I'm wrong though.

    Dinomite Thanks this.

the only way to get the correct answer is to ask a couple of different companies recruiters
what we think and believe never seems to matter
