Hope someone can help!

You want to leave the European industry for the American industry? Are you sure about this?
Verifying overseas experience is dependent. When I worked for a fleet owner who was leased to CRST Malone, my work experience in South Africa was "verified" simply by the company owner's daughter filling out some form and emailing it back (the owner himself had died in 2009, and the company was liquidated). The company I work for now did an international background check on me. I think CRST Malone only accepted my experience in South Africa because I had experience in the United States prior... for someone whose experience was solely in Europe or anywhere outside of the US (aside, possibly, from Canada), you can expect to be told that your experience doesn't count, and you'll be starting from Square One all over again, especially with these megacarriers. Even with prior experience in the US before I went overseas, the megacarriers told me it doesn't count for anything, even though I drove conventional/arctic trucks over there with unsynchronized transmissions of the sort used here, and pulled heavier and larger loads than these five axles here are allowed to gross.
I'd recommend you find some smaller independent fleets, and see if they might be willing to work with you.sunflyer Thanks this. -
thanks for your reply. Can you recommend some good small ones around Dayton OH ?

You could probably make a post asking for that question in its own thread. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with carriers in the area, but we're bound to have someone from around there who is, and a thread title specifically mentioning Dayton would be more likely to catch their eye.
Where in Europe are you from, by the way?sunflyer Thanks this. -
When you apply to a large trucking company, your application goes through a few people. Usually the first person is just looking to thin the stack, any obvious disqualifications like a failed drug test or lack of experience, too young for hiring, etc... Sometimes these people are not the nicest people either.
You have a unique situation, if you get told no I would suggest trying to get in touch with the terminal manager or even a VP or owner. I think one of these people may take interest in your story and want to help you. I see Crete has a yard in Indianapolis and one in Columbus. They are probably one of the better "big" companies to work for.
Your other option would be a smaller carrier as mentioned, but some of these people might be intimidated because they may be concerned about citizenship, work visa, taxes, etc... if they've never dealt with it before. good luck !sunflyer Thanks this. -

Werner is close to Dayton.
sunflyer Thanks this. -
Not sure exactly how close you want to be to Dayton but J.B. Hunt runs a Home Depot dedicated account out of Monroe which is just south of Dayton, there's a U.S. Xpress yard as well as a Werner yard here in Springfield which is 20-30 miles from Dayton, you have Pohl Transportation in Versailles, Dick Lavy which is right around the corner both of which are smaller fleets. There's a small fleet named Yowell Transport that's based there and I'm not sure but there used to be one called Bullett also. Schneider also has a facility in Cincinnati if I'm not mistaken which is abt an hour south of Dayton. Theres a couple other medium sized company that also advertise for the Dayton area. Hope this will give you a small idea of whats available there
