So I have wanted an iPhone pretty much since they came out a few years back. But I have been with Verizon for almost 10 years and did not want to switch. I heard about people having issues with dropped calls with AT&T, not being able to get coverage around the country, etc. So I stayed with Verizon. I was very happy when I would be somewhere and could pull up web applications with my phone and the guy next to me at the truckstop couldn't get service with his AT&T phone. Well, I'm not on the road anymore. I don't travel as much. I know the service with AT&T is good here in Columbus.

So fast forward to the last few months. I have been wanting a new phone because the one I had recently got last summer was not what I really wanted. I got talked into an EnV touch. I tried sticking through the glitches and lack of capabilities. If I wanted internet, I had my laptop on the road. But now I want a phone that can do all that in one. So I was looking to upgrade my phone. I want something that compares to the iPhone. A lot of people I know have them and I have played around with them. But, I am with Verizon so an iPhone is out, so I would like a Blackberry or Droid maybe?

Well, Verizon is having none of this because I am not "eligible" to upgrade until this coming summer. Sure, I can spend $400-$750 on a new phone. I ain't going to do that. So I try to state my position why I should be able to upgrade. And I am upgrading, not getting a new phone equal to my current phone. I try to get a supervisor on the phone, but they "aren't available" and will call me back. Well, it's 3 days later and no call. I call them back and still can't get anyone to help me. I just get "Your not eligible, sorry."

Well, sorry Verizon. I just talked to them at the AT&T store. I can get the same plan (unlimited everything) for the same price. Oh yeah, and I will finally have a phone I have wanted all along. I feel bad about leaving Verizon. I have been with them and stood by them for years. But I feel rejected. Like they just didn't care.

So after I hit post, I am headed back to AT&T and picking up my new iPhone. :biggrin_255:

AT&T has unlimited everything?? Even on an air card for my laptop??

We recently switched from Sprint to Verizon. When we bought the air card, we were told that NOBODY has unlimited anymore. So, we bought the 5 gig air card.I wanted the mifi, but it is cost prohibitive right now for us.

    Thanks!

P.S.We still are within the 30-day period, where we can return and not be charged for disconnect of service before the contract is up.

I don't know about the air card for a laptop being unlimited. But I am getting unlimited talk and messaging (text, pic, and video) for the iPhone for the same as I had with Verizon. Looks like with the aircard for AT&T you get the same 5GB per month at the same $60.

Nobody truly has unlimited air card except a small minority of old Sprint customers who havent changed their plans in 3 years.

Everyone has "unlimited" up to a certain amount... ATT and Verizon are 5GB.

The old Sprint guys got in when unlimited ment unlimited. I heard Sprint offered better plans pricing and got people to switch and it was too late for those who didnt realize they werent getting true unlimited... the lazy ones who didnt pay attention to the new prices and kept their plans eventually found out and now they keep re-newing their old plans, thus keeping their true unlimited.

I have unlimited air card use with Verizon, but I got mine when they first came out. Same plan for last few years.

Welcome to the AT&T family. I never thought it was possible to drop a call by slightly moving my head. :biggrin_25523:

I had only ben with Sprint for 2 years, This month.
When we bought the air card, they told me it would be unlimited.

But, the closer I got to my two year contract, the worse my air card reception became.

It came to the point where it no longer worked, AT ALL.

They (Sprint) told me I would either have to "upgrade" to a "better" more EXPENSIVE air card, or continue with my unlimited usage with an air card that no longer worked. (they said it "must be your computer software"...but either way, I would have to extend (re-up) my contract AND buy an very expensive new air card, that did NOT have unlimited usage...)

    I said, "NO Thank you!"

And accepted Verizons explanation that "no one does unlimited air cards" any longer...

I do think Verizon has the best overall coverage. But their customer service stinks, and they charge too much.
That being said, I'm still a Verizon customer, at least until this contract runs out

This is something I have heard about AT&T and one of the reasons I liked my Verizon coverage. But I spent the last couple days asking everyone I know here in the Columbus area (including the outlying country areas) and nobody can tell me anytime they had calls dropped. And being local now and not traveling I will always be on the same network. No more being in the middle of nowhere taking a break in an old Wal Mart parking lot. That helps.

Tonight I was in Circleville (30 miles south of Cols.) in an old building down in the basement for my bowling league (having a local job rules) and I didn't have 3G coverage down there but was still listening to my Pandora app and posting on Facebook. That kind of impressed me. My Verizon phones had never received a signal down there.

This is a phone I have wanted since they came out. I could no longer wait to see if it was going to come to them. My old phone was junk and Verizon didn't care. Until I called to get my account number to have my phone number ported over. Then they were offering me whatever I wanted. But by that time my mind was made up.

well actually AT&T does provided better 3g coverage than verizon.. I like the fact if on a call i can put it on speaker phone then open the internet and relay that information back to who ever I am speaking with. Also I have an UNLIMITED air card for my laptop with AT&T but I have had it with Cingular before they were bought out by AT&T and it still works great. I also love the fact that I only pay one bill a month for all my services. Cell, laptop card and home internet. bundled together..
