For the past 2months we have had to go 1 block north of our house to get service. ATT claims a dergrated tower. I told them if they don't fix this "dergrated tower issue" that keeps popping up I'll take my 4 lines over to Verizon.
Verizon just lost a customer... And I was loyal too!

I too wanted to get an iPhone but I have t mobile and I love my sidekick and i have everything and unlimited mintes and I pat $70. I wanted to get an iPhone and just get Internet service but with AT&T you and to have a service plan. I tried to get one of those unlocked phones but it was about $400 or $500. I ended up buying the iPod touch but it's not the same and I really wanted the camera and to get Internet anywhere but I like it

I dropped AT&T after months of aggravation of overbilling and putting up with hours of having calls transferred by incompetent people in 3rd world countries . Two complaints to the FCC got most issues resolved .

I've been thinking about the itouch route also. Most all phones have a camera so thats not a big deal.

I am not sure what they are talking about with that tower. I have done work on cell tower sites since the mid 90's(i'm a land surveyor...i don't climb the towers). I currently do temporary work for an engineering firm measuring cell tower site compunds and the equipment locations for their client. This is all for 3G upgrades for the client. I'm not going to say who the client is...but they have alot of commercials right now in a battle about coverage with verizon. Most of our work has been in S.C. and N.C. Anyhow...back to the tower thing. Never heard of a tower causing bad service. Is AT&T the only provider on that tower?? Alot of the providers had to co-locate on towers once all the regulations kicked in and people didn't want to see towers. Also...its funny to go in those tower sites and see co-locates...sometimes just 2 providers on the tower..and they are...verizon and at&t..lol. -
hunter, there could have been another service, (not necessarily cell phone,) erect a tower in the area that impacts the cellphone tower. If that is the case, it WILL be worked out. I just may take a bit of time.
Nobody who owns these towers wants to see the FCC be brought in because they have created a problem. It is MUCH cheaper to correct the problem YOUR tower has caused in the first place.
Ham club that I am involved with had this happen recently. WHOOOOPS, it was quickly taken care of. -
Big Don, never thought about that. If its someone not providing cellular service their tower could cause a problem. I just did a tower site not far from my house here in S.C. It was a new tower for AT&T that was built after they bought out bellsouth(cingular). Its along I-26...but its in a rural area so i guess they needed better coverage. Not alot of new towers going up around here anymore.

I left Verizon when the iphone came out because I had to have it, ATT service is poor in contrast but the iPhone makes up for it. I couldnt imagine not having it.
