I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this feature, but I just got it today...

Through Verizon, if you have a Mobile Broadband Connect Device, you can use THAT as the modem instead of getting an air card. By using your phone as the modem, you not only pay $10 less a month (49.99/mo vs. 59.99/mo) you DONT have to sign a 2 year contract. You can cancel at ANY time. The speeds are the same as using an air card. I just did a speed test, and i got pretty close to the advertised speeds for their broadband coverage, and i live rural area. (.9MB down, .1MB up, close to basic DSL speeds). It does still have the 5GB cap. If you go over the 5GB cap, they dont turn you off, they charge $0.05/MB with a $250 limit. The VZ access manager keeps track of your usage. You can also use programs like DU Meter to log and keep track. DU meter is nice because you can set alarms once to reach a certain point.

Here is a list of devices capable of their teathering service:

I just got the enV3. Not only were the speeds great, but i had the ability to either use a usb to micro usb cable, OR use bluetooth to connect to the phone. The enV3 also has a port by the camera on the back of the phone, to connect an antenna, like the Wilson Trucker Mirror Mount Cellular Antenna (301101).

Hope this information helps anyone looking for internet service or on the road. I am on my home time and have not been able to test it on the road. I will update periodicaly with my results.

Thanks for the research. I have the air card for my laptop and love it. Already commited to the contract though. Are you still able to use your phone as a phone when you are online though?
