Hey guys,
I'm looking into getting in the world of truck driving, and have a question or two for everyone.
I am an Army combat veteran, honorably discharged, and a current college student. Driving has always been a passion of mine, and I want to make it a career.
I have a 2 year old reckless driving charge. A total of 6 points on my record.
Can i qualify for a company provided driving program? Currently have no CDL or permit. I would prefer to do a company paid CDL training program using my GI bill benefits. Suggestions for companies?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

That ticket hurts! Some companies will hire you though. TransAm will probably hire you, but you'll have to complete a cdl school first since they don't have their own school. There's some cheap schools around Chicago; I think Wolf is one of them.

Chinatown,
How many years need to pass before the reckless ISN'T a big deal? -
Sir, I had 7 points on my record, usually a bit of speeding in that car and couple of tickets with a semi once upon a time.
What happened was I worked a gas station for three years waiting for DAC to clean up. And once the points fell off my MVR driving record it was much much easier to get work in a 18 wheeler.
Working for a good small dump truck paving operation was my salvation with that Mack Super 500. It was to this day one of the best ####### jobs I ever, ever had the pleasure (And pain) of doing. My foreman just passed away early in life due to a disassociated heart and blood vessal which was a flaw the doctors were seeking to correct. I will miss him. But I can think that mack is still on the farm ready to take blacktop loads at any time even today if he is still active.
Second off, thank you for your service, other than the points and what not, I see nothing that will stop you from driving in time some day.
I know I keep posting this for everyone who wants into the industry, it's important to understand the DAC, PSP and other methods by which trucking companies weed out bad people.

Q : I have used many services to look for a driving job but I'm having no luck at all. What would keep me from finding a truck driving job?
