Vgt actuator in safe mode. Will it damage turbo

m in the middle of a trip. I hae about 2000 miles to get home and got a cel code spn 641 fmi 7.

You can tell tell vgt actuator is not working. Sounds different at idle and the jake no longer operates with 3 settings. Oddly its getting about .7 mpg better and even seems to pull a little harder.

My question is how harmful would it be to finish my trip? Ruin the turbo or clog the dpf? I dont want to do more damage but I gotta go
