Insist the tech rides with you. Start driving, tell him when it happens/under what circumstances and then have him drive that same stretch of road.

You really need to be working with an MD Alignment shop. A couple great ones have been mentioned. These people are on another level from any dealership or truck stop. They’ll get your truck straightened out. At the rate you’re going, you’ll be broke AND still have a shaking truck.

I hear ya. I’m taking my truck to an MD alignment shop. I’m done with the dealership’s milking along.

Right now, I’m trying to get back on the road. The carrier I’m leased into has placed me OOS due to taillight being less than 50% illuminating and perhaps a bad rear QRV they say is always leaking. Having that resolved today. I have never had a bad QVR go bad before but I’ve only had 3 trucks and been driving for 6 and half years. I still have a lot to learn and by far don’t have a clue about mechanical repairs except a few easy fixing that I can do myself.

A tail light less than 50%? :biggrin_25526: Boy, that's a new one, and I don't know what QVR is, but sounds like another fleecing. You know dear, you are talking to drivers, for the most part, that vibrations were just part of the job. I drove an R model Mack that shook so bad, it would pop out of gear. When confronting the boss, he said, yeah, yeah, the truck always rides rougher on a Monday than a Friday. There was some truth to that. But all trucks shook, except Peterbilts, and was something you just lived with. Today, that is unacceptable, and you have to go faster than 60, and many times, todays mechanics don't know much more than you, you'll get it right, and I'd like to say that should be that, but again, it doesn't work that way. Repairs on a used truck can do you in. Not the biggies, so much, but that tail light, that would pizz me off.

The QRV=Quick Release Valve, the one that sits back behind the 5th wheel. During the inspection, he had me release my parking brake and he listened for any leaks. Now what didn’t dawn on me, he chocked my wheels and I was afraid if I didn’t let go of my brakes the truck would roll over him. So, I kept my foot on the brake pedal. That could be why the QRV was leaking air. I’ll check that this morning.

The less than 50% brake light is my brake light has some burnt out cells. My brake light has those circle diodes and most are working but a few are out. Since all them aren’t working, they say it must be replaced.

It sounds like you have a pretty good idea what’s going, especially for only being in this 6-1/2yrs. And, 3 trucks? Holy smokes! You’ve seen and dealt with quite a bit, then. I admire your courage and tenacity to get after the O/O thing. Keep your chin up.

Thank you. It has not been easy and I no longer have 3 trucks. I only have one now and I had to shutdown my authority and close my business due to insurance and rates. I’ve practically lost everything. Every dollar I’ve made went back into my company and still does. I only take money for living expenses that’s about it. I live full time in my truck and had to downsize my equipment. I’m currently in debt for over $20,000 and I am not one of the fortunate one’s that getting rich out here. In fact, I’m going broke. But I keep pushing forward and will not give up.

I may be the TTRs wet blanket, and I never want to thwart someones initiative, but with all honesty, get out now. If you are already in debt, it will be 1 step forward and 2 back from here on in. Most here know what you are trying to do, peddle your way through it, and most, me included, have been through exactly that. I don't mean to be rude in any way, but you don't know enough about trucks or have the resources to have a truck today. The only thing that saved me, and others, is we did our own work. You are NOT unique, and some say as many as 50% of O/Os, some say 90%, throw in the towel every year. With so many great company trucking jobs out there, I say swallow the pride, rid yourself of that headache and let the boss worry about repairs. Best of luck, get rid of the truck. With your experience driving, a company would hire you in a minute, and wipe your debt clean in 6 months, and spend Xmas with the family. It's not a matter of "giving up", there's no shame in trying.
