Hello, I own a 1999 Mack E7-427 and there’s this vibration that it’s been having recently. We recently replaced one of the crankshaft mounts because it broke while I was on the highway. But before that, the vibration was already apparent. It’s a shaky rumble feeling (especially when loaded) kind of like driving on rough roads even though I mainly drive in even roads. I noticed that when the truck is uphill, the “rumble” or vibration is a little stronger. So just yesterday, we replaced one of the crankshaft mounts, and now the vibration/rumble seems a bit “harder” if that makes sense. When I get to around 5th and 6th, i can feel this loose![]()
rumble/tremble and I can feel it a lot through my seat. It makes the inside of the cabin vibrate, things that didn’t usually shake or vibrate are now doing just that. It just feels very noisy inside the truck because of this tremble feeling. The drive is not as smooth as it was a long time ago and I want to find out what could be the issue.

Hey, at least you found it. Probably want to check that driveshaft isn’t bent too.
At first I was thinking crankshaft damper.lovesthedrive Thanks this. -
I don't feel *as* bad about my own carrier bearing anymore....LoL. I'm still going to replace mine, I just don't feel as bad about it.
@uncleal13 stevie wonder could have seen thatuncleal13 Thanks this. -
That shaft is not feeling very well. Probably bent which will get worse and it wants out of everything thats breaking loose around it.
Your most important thought right now is that thing is in the shop and it goes NOWHERE now until the entire situation with the shaft is fixed or replaced up and down. -
There's literally no excuse as to why a carrier bearing should have been allowed to get that bad.
Apparently DOT doesn't do their job where you live.
And if you let something as simple as a carrier bearing get that bad, how beat is the rest of the truck?Chubby Fly, AModelCat, Caterpillar Cowboy and 3 others Thank this. -
Well, you got 100% of the service life out of that carrier bearing!

crankshaft mount huh. It pans me that fellow owner operators know nothing about trucks. Just breakin balls a little but come on man
