I have a 2000 Pete and have a vibration at higher rpm and worsens under load. The lower the gear, the stepper the hill the harder the truck is working the worse the vibration... I was in 4th at 15 hundred rpm and the steering wheel was going crazy.. I let up on throttle and rpm dropped to 12 hundred and I hammered down and vibration did not come back... Any ideas on where to start checking.. This is a new truck to me so not sure when or what happened before me... Any help would be great!

I would check the engine vibration damper on crank, they do go bad i'm assuming it's a cat?. I say this because it's rpm and engine load related. Also check for loose worn driveline components, u joints, yokes, driveline weights missing, also height of rear suspension when bobtail on level ground, air ride height will change when trk is under load and lot of torque applied could be putting drive line in a slight bind. Also check motor mounts, tranny mounts.

I did change the damper and to me it does feel like its in the drive line. It has a slight vibration when i get around 60 mph and again the rpm is close to 15 hundred.. I also feel it when going up threw the gears at higher rpm but that is only if Im in the throttle heavy.. It just seems the heaver under the load the worse it gets... Hope this helps...

    Also it's a Cat 3406E

    Thanks for the quick response...

Other than what jason said check your load leveler rod. That thing can be off an 1/8th inch or even bent and cause your drive line to be in a bind to where it does stuff like you describe. The heavier the load the worse.... makes even more sense.

One other thought as well as the yokes at end of the drive shafts, don't forget to check the slip yokes on the shafts as well, check the whole system before greasing driveline. Willing to bet it's driveline related. Good luck

Thanks guys... I just climbed under it and the carrier bearing has spun and the driveshaft is actually out of center buy at least 3/16 to one side... You think this is the culprit?
