USDOT and company name are all that's required at the federal level. Depending upon which states you run through, you may be required to have more. Colorado likes the VIN. I think it's Minnesota that likes to see the town & state from which you're based. There might be some other oddballs out there, so just look up the state requirements for the states you'll be running through and decorate your truck accordingly.

I've decided to go with the company name, city, and state on my door. Then the USDOT and last 9 of my VIN number on the side of the sleeper. That should keep almost everybody happy where I travel.

Truth is that’s how the decide to do an inspection.
They will tell you that’s not true, sure, right.kenn2632 Thanks this. -
Company name, DOT, and City/State is all that I do. No vin.
Oh and truck number of course. Don’t forget the fire extinguisher lettering or symbol as well. -

And honestly if you think about it, it’s not a bad idea at all if an accident happened and a bystander was trying to help you out.SteveScott Thanks this. -
I have the last 8 of my vin on the side of my truck with the DOT, and business name. I don’t have a truck number, or fire extinguisher sticker. The meth heads don’t need to know I have a fire extinguisher in my side door to steal.

KB3MMX, SteveScott and whoopNride Thank this.

I don't have the city/state on mine. I might decide to run some jack##s off the road. They don't need to know where I'm from.
