VIN Numbers on side of truck

Not meaning to revive an old thread but I too been trying to research on what to put on the side of my truck as recently got my authority. I have been wondering why people put the vin on the truck and came across this post. After digging more into Colorado for 30 mins came across this page for their port of entry requirements. So if you never going to run through Colorado then don't need it. As far as I can tell Colorado is the only state that wants it displayed.
