i have to say its all about verizon. i wanted to try virgin, but in my area i couldnt buy it and i must have internet so i just got verizon. i had used it in a previous job so i knew it was good, just worried about the limit.

have been using it in the truck a couple months now, its awesome, suprisingly fast...keep in mind i have a 15mb connection at home so im spoiled with speed, and even im happy with the speeds i get. and the 5gb limit is actually very managable. i even have enough left over at the end of the month to go download a bunch of movies or whatever. and i spend at least 2-3 hours a day online.

have had great signal everywhere i go from the middle of wyoming, west coast east coast, everywhere. no exceptions.

 

If you get Verizon's mifi, the 5 gig plan is only $50 a month, and they offer a 10 gig plan for $80 a month. But more importantly, the overage charges are only $10 per gigabyte, so if you do use more than your allotment it's not going to be anywhere near as traumatic as going over with Sprint or AT&T.

Virgin uses Sprint's network, which has some holes in it that Verizon's doesn't have. If you spend a lot of time in Mississippi, Alabama, or along I20 in Louisiana, it's pretty much dial up speed through there. Ditto for I 80 through Nevada and the whole state of Wyoming.

If it's orange, the Virgin will give you 3g there. Light orange Dial-up speed. Not sure about the grey roaming areas, because I don't know if Sprint lets Virgin users roam. They barely let us Sprint users, when we use more than 300 mb's roaming, they have been known to turn our roaming off.
