You're most certainly right. My dear brother Bob has been dead 22 years. I can't say my memory isn't foggy, but very fond of the boxes of olive green cans he used to bring home from Schofield.

 

There were 12 different C Rations Meals when I was in from 79 - 85. A case had one of each. Can't remember all of them but maybe someone can do in the blanks. The ones I do recall were

Ham Steaks
Beef Steak
Pork Steaks
Turkey Loaf
Ham and Eggs
Chicken and Gravy
Beef and Shrapnel (potatoes, but they were #### hard)
Pork and Beans
Spaghetti and Meat Balls

Yes, a small town close to my home town had one in nice... It's amaizing what little particles of grain dust, oxigen, and a heat source will do.

 

I skipped three pages of posts to make my post!

The chili and macaroni and cheese mre is by far the best thing ever invented.

Mix the Macaroni in with the chili, drop that dallup of jalapeno cheese spread in the chili and mac. Stir it up and enjoy.

I've also broken up the bread and thrown it in together. It's good, but better if you trade some m&m's to a buddy for another packet of cheese sauce. Then you can have bread and cheese.


Don't even get me started on the egg omelette. Most everybody i was with hated it. But I made sure to heat it, drop three bottles of Tabasco sauce on it, salt and pepper and I never missed a meal due to having the worst mre.

 

As long as it has the pound cake..... I used two packets of the instant coffee in a canteen of cold water during BCT, on an overnight field exercise, when we weren't supposed to be getting any caffeine. I normally didn't drink coffee back then, so I had NO troubles staying awake in my foxhole.

I've got a case in my storage unit right now, and I keep a couple in each vehicle through the winter.

 

Add hot water and they taste a lot better than C rations
