A recent event led me to this discovery. Me being a thief and all. If you don't understand what I am talking about in this post...it doesn't apply to you. So don't do anything !!!!!

MicroSoft in all it's infinite wisdom, decided that you and I should have no more than 8 "global" connections going at once, to prevent/impede propagation of viruses on the networks. We've known this for years.

It actually slows you down on some sites, due to the number of off-site feeds that come into the main page and others.

It won't help here (truckers report) as the servers seem to be a tad slower than I like.

Earlier versions allowed you to change/modify these numbers and drivers. That is no longer the case.

While you can install the necessary driver updates that allow you to make the modifications. MicroSoft has included a robust "vault" to slow you down. They REFUSE to recognize unsigned drivers in VISTA. You now have to walk VISTA through the boot up process to get past this. Or your PC just fails to boot altogether.

For those interested download the proper drivers that allow you to modify your connections. Then install ReadyDriverPlus to automate this process.

Warning: If you have a slow connection to begin with, it will still be slow. It may even get slower.
