Good evening everyone. I am an O/O in need of some serious help or advice. After totaling my 2007 VNL670 with a Cummins CM870, I bought a month ago a 2014 VNL670 (VIN:157174) with a 525 HP ISX CM2350 (ESN 79646948) and a manual 13 speed. It had a CIL when I bought it. I took it to the shop in Venus, TX and here is what has been done so far, but not on the same trip. Please keep in mind that the truck started to lose MPGs around 2 - 3 weeks ago.

    1. Oil change, air & fuel filters. (complete PM)
    2. Oil pan gasket
    3. Upgrade fuel pump inner rods from ceramic to metal with a rebuilt head unit from Cummins.
    4. Baked & cleaned both DOC and DPF filter.
    5. New injector DEF doser and gasket.
    6. All new DEF sensors. (All sensors have been changed except the ammonia sensor on SCR)
    7. New Delta-P sensor.
    8. New I-map sensor
    9. Exhaust gas pressure sensor (Close to the thermostat).
    10. Fuel rail pressure sensor.

The issue is that after all these repairs the truck is only getting around 4.5 mpg (at the pump) cruising at 68 mph at 1400 rpm with light loads (50000lb - 60000lb) all in the South and Midwest. Currently there are no CIL on the dash or any messages. Boost gets to 35-37 on the gauge between gears and shifting or up-hill. Doesn't over heat and does not run hot like my old CM870. I fill up the DEF tank every 4-5 fuel fill-ups or roughly 4000 mile (give or take). It drives fine but just using a LOT of fuel. Ask me anything you want and if you need pictures, let me know. Any advice on what else to replace is highly appreciated.

Have the charger air cooler pressure tested.

Also get an oil sample at about 10k or so and see if anything is going on that way. You should be seeing hi 7s to lo 8s from this truck. Might get a good mpg on your Def to and track it. I have a 2015 ISX and get abt 250 mpg. Good luck not sure what to tell you. If you get thru Kansas city there is a shop up there that can help you out. It's called T&E Service Co.

I'm sure you know about Rawze.com.
Maybe go on one of his message boards to see if anyone there has some answers.

I did get on Rawze.com and posted on there. I did notice that after every PARKED REGEN I do, I get slightly better fuel mileage from 4.5 MPG to approximately 5.3 MPG. Then it starts to drop back down.
Here is what I am doing next week at the shop:
    1. Overhead valve adjustment.
    2. Fix the oil leak from the valve cover.
    3. Injector leak test.
    4. Pressure test the CAC.
    5. Check turbo doser for leakage.
    6. Check SCR for clogging.

I will keep you guys posted on the findings.

I would be looking into your regen frequency. Line haul should be at or near 100hr intervals for the CM2350. Frequent regens will have slight reduction in fuel efficiency. Most likely this may lead you to replacing the DPF with new or reman from Cummins vs cleaning.

Of course if your not monitoring your oil consumption already you should be as this could be what it causing premature DPF issues. Sounds like you've hit most other bases. Please let us know hours and miles. Also make sure you are calculating fuel mileage from fill up as well as dash readout to match.

If you are having to do parked regens with a CM2350, you need to do an EGR tuneup/ air management sensor cleanup.

The miles are 429300 and EGR tune up has been done except for one pressure sensor next to the P-delta sensor and of course the EGR itself. Please keep in mind that I have no CEL (check engine light). I actually calculate the fuel mileage off of actual gallons and miles and it is always .75 to .5 more on the dash than in actuality.

Having the same problem today with my cm870 and finding out that exhaust pressure sensor has no power to it. I'm plug it and see if you get a check engine light. I'm head back to shop today
