Thanks JD ... the I shift sounds nice ! I’m looking at a manual right now! If it doesn’t suit my fancy I may end up going with the I shift.

You will want that manual. I think it will be useful against the boo hoo state drip restriction on autos only in renewal. In time you will have a skill with that manual that nothing else will suit you. You are driving her. One of the things I appreciate to see in the area is when some of the drivers shift well coming off the rail tracks at the coop manually and its a good appreciating for what I consider to be a long term dying art. Ill die with a manual in my hand, however a very good SIMPLE auto that tuned to engine is really nice to have in many areas. The one I had proved itself over and over back in 2001, leaving off all the modern overengineered bull crap like 3 and 5 cruise profile off satellites and all that space man crap. It needs simplicity.

/Semi rant. But in a good way.

I've driven one like that, although it was egr only. I hate Volvo trucks, but the D13 is an easy engine to drive. It shifts very similar to a Cummins. You can pull them down to nearly 1,000 unlike a series 60 which is the same size.

Detroits have historically never tolerated lugging at all, and the 60’s were certainly no different.

Exactly ... they love to run fast! Last Detroit I run was a cattlehauler and she loved to run REAL fast :)

I’m sure yours was juiced up, but my understanding is the 60 series has a comparatively flat power curve relative to other engines.

I’m not a 60 series expert at all ... never really pulled super heavy with ours. I’m a CAT fan myself but now just looking at this D13 for again super light loads.

It should be standard spec to have a 13 speed! My previous was a ddec3 with a 10 speed. Even though it was a 470 and my current one is only 400, having the 13 allows me to keep it in the narrow window so I get more out of it than the old one.
