My 98 Volvo has a severe bounce or jerking when traveling between 20 and 45 mph. The problem is worse on a bumpy road and with a load. You can also feel it while driving at highway speeds in a good road but not as severe. It feels almost like the front suspension is loose as it is not a vibration, more or a bouncing and jerking action. I have balanced the front tires and removed the dynamic balancers - made no difference. I am going to start checking things in more detail and plan to start with the front bushings, hangers, springs and bearings. I read something somewhere once that there was an issue with Volvo springs. My springs are almost straight. I guess that is normal?
Can anyone help that has had similar problems?
Thanks

In between bounces it is smooth! I purchased the truck a couple months ago. The previous owner said he did not have any problems with the ride ( I know and trust the guy). The truck sat for about 7 years. I did rotate the rear duals in case there is a flat spot. But the bounce feels more like something loose or worn and not a rotating wheel or shaft problem - no regular frequency. That is why I am going to thoroughly check the suspension. But if it is the spring, I am not sure what it is supposed to look like.
Thanks
