Two cables on top of intake manifold sounds like your talking about preheater electric cables.. I dont think it is a big problem.. just when its cold I cycle ignition key twice before starting the engine up..
And EGRs.. for me engine runs smoother with than without them.. When one of the EGR valves gives you malfunction code, 99% its gonna limit engines horse power, not much but you will be able to tell the difference.. so I just change them and drive.. but only when they throw codes.. you can find them on ebay for $650 or something like that.. cheaper than dealer and no core charge.. but I heard somewhere in Florida there is a shop.. you can send them your ECU and they will program it (reduced EGRs cycling, more HP and/or better MPG ) it was around $1200 when I called the guy few months back but I've never done it so cant tell if it really works

Maybe somebody turned of clutch sensor in vcads, "maybe" because Ive never done it just imagined its possible.. other than that why dont you check where is it leaking from?
EPG steering valve is on driver side right beneath the starter, from there there is half metal half plastic air tube/cable going to the other side of the engine to EPG connected to turbo housing.. the tub goes on the back around the engine on the height of the engine head.. its easy to hear and visually check for any air leaks with windex or something unless EPG has internal leak.. hard to tell because it might be 1000 other things leaking air.. last time one of my air tanks was leaking and I could hear it from everywhere :/ but since your leak reacts to gas pedal I would check whole EPG air system -
it coudl be your egrs leaking as well.. look for singns of smoke, sooth around egrs tubes

Take it back to the shop wear u had valves install , one of the clamps are leaking and most likely already burned out the gaskets and you can check for the by using soapy water when engine is cold , just start it in the morning and spray rthat area down and look for bubbles, I work at a volvo shop and it does happen a lot , sorry

Gaskets are made from metal so nothing will burn there, they will have only carb deposits. Been there and just changed clamps with new ones and problem fixed. Total cost of parts was about 120$. One of the 2 biggest clamps, in order to take them off drain the antifreeze, because there is a pipe coming from the egr cooler going to the block, so drain and take the pipe from the block. When u put it back make sure u have a new silicone ring for that pipe where it enters the block otherwise may leak.

Yes the gaskets are metal but they do burn out all the time real easy , if you only here when engineering is cold or when you use the engine brake it most likely just the clamp frog the epg housing to the turbo and also check the clamp that right in the middle of the turbo , they do make a kit for the turbo so you dont have to buy a turbo so dont let the part dept sell u one
