I just did valve adjustment on my 2006 D12d 465HP engine,
engine is less powerful and burns more diesel now and got somewhat clicking noise from the engine
Compression test shows +/- 90% on 5 cylinders and on one it goes as low as 82% - used to be ~95%
I think he didnt adjusted valves properly
Can I drive like this for a while??..
I'm mostly concerned about that "clicking" noise since heard lot of stories about broken/burned engine valves
Thank you for any info
Volvo D12d engine valve adjustmen went wrong?

valves are ticking becuase they are loose. they don't get tighter. they get looser. least on a cummins.
and every japanese engine i worked on back in the day. before hydraulic valves took over.
i had the same scenario last year. then, one day, one cylinder quit. was dumping fuel into the oil. overheard got rid of the ticking noise. got the cylinder running. power was back and fuel mileage improved. along with improved jakes.
neglected maintanance. good thing it was a cheap fix.bravoo67 Thanks this. -
