I have a 2011 Volvo D13. Replaced original injectors and cups at 600k miles. 11 months later, again. 8 months after that, replacement #3. So with less than 800K miles, I've replaced three sets of injectors and cups. Seems like a problem?
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Not a problem. SOP for Volvo's band aid fix. Did you get it warranty on any of those cups?
-
Aldough i feel the D13 is a good engine ,it has 2 weaknesses.
1° the cups.
2°the rollers on the camshaft. -
Agree. You also have to remember that the other part of the problem is the grease monkey doing the install.... Some are really bad.
I'll reference the new specific tool Volvo made for installing the cups because so many mechanics weren't doing it right to get them sealed.
Most of the rest of the valve train is pretty bulletproof as long as overhead is ran as specified and you pm your truck.
There was a run several years ago that had inferior metal used for the cam and valve guides. Most trucks have been fixed at this point but some are still floating around out there..
