Yep thays the one so its your choice whether you take it all off as per diagram or just the lid off i havent taken the lid off myself so inside from is only from what i got told from the driver so you are at your own risk i am able to find out more once u get to that stage but yeah i would probably take the whole lot off as per diagram then pull it apart on the bench and go from there

Seems like its alot easier to thoroughly clean it by taking it off and do a benchtop cleaning and rebuild. Gotta swing by a volvo dealer and get new gaskets and orings.
-
No orings. Just couple gaskets. About $80
The unit itself about $800 for new.
Easy to take apart.
I cleaned it with gas. Let it soak for a bit, the soot will come of easier. -
This #### box was designed by brainless engineers, located right in front of the most sensitive engine component ; the ECM. The fan blows the leaking oil right on it, mine was leaking also few years ago, not bad, i delayed the repair few days and contaminated the ECM and engine harness, 5000-6000$ job.

Where does the truck get the reading to tell if that thing is working or not?
-
It does not directly.
It only gets the crankcase pressure sensor reading.
The oil separator is a very simple device. I don't know what must happen for that thing to actually break. But it gets clogged with soot very easy, and it can cause back pressure or no pressure that will trigger sensor code. -
The reason I'm asking is because my truck is not losing oil or leaking oil but last week my radiator popped and through coolant all over the engine
