I've yet to drive a Mack. It's on the to do list.

Your friends Volvo an auto or manual?
Man-card aside, Volvo makes the best Auto transmission (I-shift). Years of R&D (research & development) have been put into that thing. It doesn't shift like a schizophrenic (not knowing where it wants to go) Eaton-Fuller Advantage or an Allison Auto.... and you can do a rolling-stop without it freezing in Neutral for 15 seconds while you have it matted hoping it might even lurch forward an inch. I-shift catches and goes. Makes a pimp decision. Lol.

    TheyCallMeDave Thanks this.

They run auto's over there. Said it's like driving a Cadillac. I'm a Pete fan myself, pre emissions 379 and I'm good to go. Second to that would be KW T-660, (W9's are alright) Freight-shaker Classic and hell I'd take a good FLD as well. The Mack I drove was a good rig (CH613) day-cab, drove it when I would fill in for one of the local heavy haul guys that my previous boss had on the payroll. Not a fan of the columbias/cascadias or centurys but that's just my opinion. The few I drove were just "meh." Wont touch an international, although I drove a 9400i that my boss had as a backup truck. It was a decent rig for a week while my Pete was in the shop. All of this pertains to if I were to buy a truck of course. If it's a company rig and it'll pass inspection, runs well and my bills remain paid, then I don't care lol. I'll save the picky stuff for when I'm throwing money on the table.

Check piping going into turbo. Mine did that and we tightened the clamps, even replaced nuts, and sound went away.
