    Looking to purchase 2017 780. Whats best ishift auto/ 13 sp volvo standard or 13 sp cummins

    I parked it before Christmas with 1,766,000 miles , no inframe yet, original Eaton manual 13 transmission also; not perfect , injectors cups 4 times, emission bs.
    I'm getting excellent fuel economy ,over 8 mpg yearly avg and it's still running and can afford to take a month vacation now during ice and snow without payments for new truck. I would go again for D13 and Eaton 13 manual.

    WTF , the D13 is way better than the POS ISX Cummins.

    Average life to in frame is hundreds of thousands miles better with the D13... Not to mention the low rpm power , fuel econ and less emissions system troubles.

    The ISX Cummins is lucky to make 1M miles before a in frame. Most are only 600-800k....I won't even talk about the rod failure problem.

    KB3MMX is absolutely right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    In case truck starts giving you problem Volvo will point on Cummins - Cummins on Volvo.

    I think You got extremely lucky with this one but d13 is still superior to Cummins electronics and all. If I was u I would drive that thing till the wheels fall off best thing I could suggest whatever u buy it's worth to buy new not inherit someone elses problems d13 major downfall so far has been injectors. But if u do decide to keep truck don't make the mistake of doing inframe get a long block or engine from Volvo and just put it in. I think another if reason for this truck lasting so long is how I drive it there is not that many people out there that can get this kind of mileage out of a trans let along an engine so driving habits have a lot to do with it as well
