You still drive it to do errands for your business. Drive to get food for work, drive to get clothing for work, drive to get office supplies for work. Drive to turn in the PODs every week or w.e.

There is so much misinformation in that post that it should all be ignored.

It has nothing to do with supporting the lazy. It has everything to do with working and doing it legally.

Not really. I don’t deduct clothing because we don’t have a required uniform. I don’t need office supplies because everything is paperless. I don’t drive to turn in paperwork because I live 425 miles from our office and everything is paperless anyway. I don’t push the envelope on what can and can’t be done, my way of doing things hasn’t failed me yet and for me it’s not worth throwing up red flags trying to write off a couple hundred dollars to keep from paying the government $60. Same as I won’t spend $1000 on something I don’t need to keep from sending the government $300. I’d rather send them the $300 and keep the extra $700 in the bank. The great thing is we can all do what works for us.

That’s commuting. Commuting is EXPLICITLY defined as non-deductible by the IRS.

Don’t let facts interfere with truckstop tax advice.

A 1099 is all about paying all the taxes and Health Insurance and no benefits!
