i will say in response to dino sore that the longer you keep your pete in working condition the more you can sell them for. Petes and KW prices appear to.constantly increase but its an illusion.. The prices are stable, because they appreciate at the same rate that the dollar inflates! Paccars are the real estate of heavy equipment. Despite getting older and more used up, they keep selling for more dollars.
Try getting what you paid for your columbia 10 yrs ago with a million less miles.

If it were me buying a truck I would take them all out for ride to see which one rattles the least and has the tightest gearshift, things like that.
Does it shift like you're stirring soup or is it tight and precise?
Do the doors rattle when you close them, is there play in the hinges, is the weather stripping dried out or damaged, is the door handle sloppy and flopping around or nice and tight?
Does the truck clank and rattle going over RR tacks?
Does the truck run straight when you let go of the wheel and hit the brakes?
Is the steering loose and sloppy, is the steering column loose and sloppy?
Did you crawl underneath to see what's happening on the underside, is it greasy or oily and why?
What do the hoses and electrical look like?
Is the frame and components clean or rusty?
which one feels or handles the best in your opinion?
I have little experience with Petes, only one, but I've driven a lot of KW's, K100's, W9's, T600's, W8's, probably around 20 to 25 different KW's and most of them were good and reliable well made trucks that were pretty consistent in the way they rode and handled, their doors were the best in the industry at one time.
I would lean toward the KW, but that's not saying I wouldn't have a Pete.
(would have Cat or DD before Cummins)
Line the 4 of them up, show me the driveline specs, I'll take each one for a test drive, run over some rough railway crossings, slam all the doors, play with the gearshift and pedals, listen to the engine and drivetrain, (leave the windows open), shake the hood, crawl into the bunk, have a nap, flip all the switches and play with the other shiny doo dads, look at the air bags and everything else that may be of concern and I would pick the best truck of the bunch for my needs.npok, Hammer166, singlescrewshaker and 3 others Thank this. -
