I have a pretty diverse fleet of trucks that all basically do the same job but only one gets completely plugged up with dust and overheats. The truck is a 2013 ISX in a W900 with around 520k miles. If we don't blow the radiator out at least twice a week it will run upwards of 230 degrees, but if you spend 10 min blowing it out it will drop below 200 almost instantly. Anybody else have issues like this? Also the fan runs almost constantly, AC on or not. Less than a month ago I pulled the radiator out and had it boiled out and pressure tested

Have you hooked up Insite to see what the ECM is saying? You removed and boiled the radiator, how did you refill the coolant? You did use a vacuum to refill, correct? If not, you may have an air pocket in the cooling system. The fan running continually could be the fan clutch or the AC system is overcharged, or could be a sensor in the AC system or elsewhere causing the fan to run, or an air pocket. Best to get a computer on the body controller to see what is going on there. Could be a few things, but you really need to get a computer on the truck to properly diagnose it.

If you do not have a vacuum kit to fill the coolant system, you really need to get one. The days of filling and burping are long gone. I use the HD Air Lift Kit, bought mine on Amazon, around $100

Thanks! I will have to look into the vacuum system.

Just a thought . Does that one have a two speed fan hub. They spin all the time sucking in dust.
I have to clean mine our twice per summer.
Same job, my last truck did not have a two speed. I never cleaned out the rad in three years.

    Justrucking2 Thanks this.

I actually had a shop do the radiator so ill look into how they filled it. I don't think the fan clutch is bad. could possibly be the relay however or the ac. The clutch holds tight when the truck is off and it does turn off occasionally but only for a few seconds. Thanks to most of you for the help. We've had problems with this pile since day one

Has the fan selonid been changed? You should have a air selonid for your fan as a relay to control when it turns on, or off.

It’s obviously running way too much I had mine locked in for a while before I could rebuild it and it sucked up dirt like crazy. Had to always spray it first from backside then with truck running on a fast idle spray the front side
