And you are going to not only take time off from your new job, but drive down for court in that state? I don't think you are being realistic.

My old man taught me years ago to pick my battles. How important is being right if all it gets you is a last paycheck from a now former employer?

I’d also note that the OP, who hasn’t been back since very early in this thread, never seemed to take responsibility for screwing up in the first place.

He parked the truck in an illegal place and the truck got towed. He screwed up on the job. It's not rocket science. No different than taking out a light pole with his trailer. It's anything that he did that costs the company money other than normal expenses.

Who said you need a lawyer? You ever watch Judge Judy? Do those plaintiffs have lawyers?

And what tow company will tow a big rig for 143 dollars? Please give me their name and number, thanks.

Some say no, it's illegal. I say, you're gonna have to eat that money. Chalk it up and consider a 950 dollar lesson.

The $143 was a fine for having too much weight on my tandems. Try and follow along. Judge Judy is a game show for entertainment, not real court.

Wrong, it is real court, in a television setting.

But the show pays the people's fines. Does that happen in real court? No.

Both are wrong. Judge Judy is officially an arbitrator. She has some court like powers, but isn't a court judge (anymore) nor is there zero legal power behind her decisions.
She has all the authorty any other binding arbitrator does in New York.

It's a binding arbitration. But small claims court you don't need a lawyer. That was the point. All you need to do is know the law and prove your case in court. Have you ever actually filed a lawsuit in small claims court? I have. Did you win? I did. I didn't have, nor need, a lawyer.
