So I arrived at my final destination only to find out that there was a schedulIng error and they won’t unload the trailer for another 90-120 min. My question is do I log off duty or sleeper until they unload? Also do I have to bzck on duty while they’re unloading.

Me? I log 5-10 minutes immediately "On Duty Unloading" then go to "Sleeper" and stay there until I leave. Unless you have to be on the dock then that may be a different situation for you.

Call someone in safety and do it the way they want it done.

Very true, but I will add that if they answer anything different than what @STexan advised you need to spend that time looking for another company that will not screw you out of your 70 hour clock.

I asked a DOT officer once about this. He said: if you are in your bunk reading a book, playing on your phone...etc etc.. you are in the sleeper... if you’re not an active participant in the loading or unloading you are not on duty.. log it like you do it! Been doing it that way for 14 years now! Never had a problem

But what about the state and federal motor carrier enforcement drones high overhead? And the on-site surveillance cameras hooked into the FMCSA? And live-monitored credit card transactions at the candy machine? And the covert spies in the shipping/receiving office?

TripleSix, tinytim and WesternPlains Thank this.
