I have been working through Maverick Transports' application process, and I have come to a close with everything being done. The recruiter advised me that I am just waiting now for the hiring team to call me with an eval date. She stated that everything in my history was perfect. (Only 1 accident 4 years ago which was not my fault and a hit and run). No tickets, no criminal background etc.

Fastforward almost 1.5 weeks, and I have heard nothing. I am trying to be patient, but I am getting worried.

Does anyone have any experience with them? Is this normal?
    Thanks in advance.

For my fuel hauling job -- the carrier finally called me back 3 MONTHS...to the day -- after I submitted a fully complete application.

This was back during covid -- & the CDL job market was MUCH better.

Hiring right now is generally pretty slow. You can't "cherry pick".

Make the numbers game work more in your favor -- submit completed applications to at least several different carriers.

Then wait on each one AT LEAST A WEEK -- before following up with a phone call....to check on the status of your application.

    It's worse, if:
    • You're a new driver, with no prev experience to offer
    • You have no CDL endorsements
    • You live in an area that is more competitive (too many qualified drivers to choose from)
    • You have accidents/incidents/citations on your record, within the last 5 years
You don't say where you live, but if flatbed interests you -- you can also apply to:
    • Melton Truck Lines
    • Decker Truck Line
    • Halvor Lines
    • Jordan Carriers
All those hire & train new drivers.

Normal is whatever THAT company does. The industry is very slow so either keep looking or keep waiting, depending on your situation. THERE IS NO TRUCK DRIVER SHORTAGE, NEVER HAS BEEN.

Do not sit and wait on one company. That’s how people go broke. There are others. Melton, Boyd, McElroy, EW Wylie, Keim, Jordan, LoneStar, TMC, Swift Flatbed.

Maybe they called back but somehow had the wrong number. Now they mistakenly think you don't want the job.

Ive know that some managers just bring in the first applicant who answers the phone just to get meat in the seat. Management can be just as tired of the revolving door hire and fire as everyone else as the orders come from above.

Well, that's the thing. The application process is complete and I was cleared for hire, just not getting my start date. I am not going to go broke, as I am still working right now, so that's good. I haven't missed a call though. I have answered every spam call that's came through just in case lol.

I sent an email to my recruiter. I guess I'll wait a little while to see if they call back. Maverick is the one I prefer to go to as a new driver because of 2 things: the training and safety standards, and the weekly minimums. I am a new driver and will be going through their CDL program. And being new I am terrified to go somewhere like Roehl because of the horror stories people have told me about the low pay.

Edit: I am in the Chattanooga TN area.

Chattanooga is a very good area for trucking.
Check with TMC about a start date. Not sure they hire TN drivers for cdl school though.
