That’s completely nuts. My guy that does most of my work onsite is $115/hr which is expensive but ok it’s doable. He’s meticulous which sometimes is frustrating but overall good because our safer is phenomenal. Being a haz carrier we get atleast 3x the inspections of a comparable outfit.
Just made me think ####, if it’s not warranty I can’t afford to go to a dealer anymore. Can’t imagine being not under warranty. They are pricing themselves out.
Waiting on New Trucks thread.

Was at a Freightliner Davenport, IA a couple of days ago $210 an hour. Seems like "$200 hr" everywhere is the new $100 from several years ago.

Truth be told, if it's something you aren't equipped to do yourself, the dealer is a bargain no matter what the rate is, provided they only need to do the job once.
The sting comes when they charge you book time for something stupid like 0.6 hours for changing an air filter element when they are already under the hood doing a PM. Not that I would have first hand knowledge of such a shenanigan that may or may not involve Peach State Freightliner. -
They're crafty how they try to generate extra revenue that's for sure. Mine could have been fixed at our company shop in a fraction of the time that ended up being wasted but the dealer that services the truck is who messed it up to start with when they serviced it so to another dealer was where it went to be fixed.

Not to mention the $200 in misc shop fees.

They literally fixed an air line going to the trans. Then they thought they had to pull the trans. Then they decided they don’t. lol Only took them 3 weeks to figure this out which the original repair was done inside 3 days.
Same shop was doing some body work on another truck. They quoted x amount and then after the repair it was 3k higher. Turns out they forgot to include parts in the quote.
I’m talking with ownership but come on, it’s straight up incompetence. These are the same people who invite me to their golf outing each year.
I guess I’m a vip who’s not really a vip. Some of these dealers are too big for their own good and forget who their bread and butter is. It didn’t used to be like this back in the good ol days.
Edit: I don’t buy new trucks from them but do a lot of parts and body work. I buy from a dealer 800 miles away as they are much cheaper. Crazy times.Last edited: Mar 29, 2023

I like my Mack dealer, even though i've had to pull out a couple act-rites. Last time my usual surly service writer mentioned he seen me running up I-985 last week around 330pm. I said yeah you would, working half days. Hope you didn't get too close, I ain't a good driver.
I'm a vip on the 9th when I drop off a check.bzinger, JoeyJunk, Cdemars316 and 4 others Thank this. -

Had an injector replaced yesterday, The guy I use just went up to $135 an hour, he worked at the local kw dealer for ~20 years until they sold out and new management pissed him off so he went across the street to open a shop and took a few guys with him
