The core you’re trading in has to be the same EPA generation as the crate engine you’re wanting to buy.

Help us all if CAT gets back into on-highway. Our nearest CAT house can barely fix a sandwich let alone an engine that was produced over 14 years ago or older. They give us tons of work and have a reputation for doing very poor quality work.

If they bring a new emissions engine to market, they have their work cut out for them that’s for sure.

ducnut, Accidental Trucker and Siinman Thank this.

Yeah that’s a new program. Unfortunately you can’t buy new gliders now

    JoeyJunk Thanks this.

I’ve been told the latest off road tier 4 or whatever is just as clean as the latest on road engine

the side rails were like that when I bought it, day and a half put two junction boxes in and and ran everything to it but the rear corner marker with turn signal, had no right turn, popped the 4” out and there’s a bare 3 way scotch lock with a short piece of wire and a non heat shrink connector beyond that in the tail light box, looks like it’s where it was grounding out the first time

I’m sure the other side is about the same

Oxbow, Siinman, dwells40 and 2 others Thank this.

I’ve heard both Cummins and detroit actually laughed at them and told them there was no way they could meet it, time will tell I guess

even home heating oil is now ulsd and off road stuff has required it since 2013

ducnut, JoeyJunk and Oxbow Thank this.

    Here's this week's update.

    August 12, 2023
    389 Peterbilt - 163.........1 389X's
    579 Peterbilt - 281
    T680 KW - 492
    W9 KW - 97
    Cascadia - 55
    Volvo Family - 112
    Mack - 56
    International - 105

Units for sale were in line with last week. Well I think I'm going to finally buy a truck this week. There's a 579 and 389 I'm deciding between. I never thought I'd entertain another 389 but I just love the set-up and color and I can't move past it. I don't like the 589s so this would truly be the last hood we'd get so that's playing a factor too. There price gap is just so wide it makes no business sense.

ducnut, Oxbow, Siinman and 4 others Thank this.

Lol no doubt it makes zero sense and I've been trying to talk myself into it. I never claimed to be the smarted person!
