How impossible is it out there to get 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep? And if you've found it to be possible, where and how did you do it? "Fatigued Drivers" is a biggee!!
Wake up refreshed?

It is not impossible. I run a dedicated run. I sleep at one of the shippers on my route. The place is closed at night. I get there in the evening and they open at 5am. I park in the dock, watch tv or read for an hour or two,and sleep like a baby till they open.
I have no problem sleeping in the truck. It becomes habit after a while.JustSonny Thanks this. -
I had no problems sleeping in the truck when I was doing that,...Of course when you run 25 to 35 hour straight you can sleep anywhere!!!,..
I don't do that anymore,....
Now I go home to my own bed every night,...And sleep very well,...JustSonny and ampm wayne Thank this. -
My problem is the opposite. When I'm home, or every year in the spring when I go back to grading. It takes me forever to get use to sleeping without the sound or vibration of the truck. Only thing worse for me is a truck with a Tri-pac, dang thing cranking & cutting off all the time.

I drive flat bed when i am done for the day I am tired and sleep .....
Even next to an truck full of hogs......
The only time that i find it hard to sleep is if I am laid over some where with nothing to do !JustSonny and Stroked F550 Thank this. -
I have no problem sleeping 8 hrs straight. Refer and Tri-pac cutting on/off. Only time I have problems is when some genius runs his truck unnecessarily all nite.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
I never had any problems sleeping at night, had a tri-pac that would start an stop all night to, wasnt loud enough to wake me up and im an extremely light sleeper. Only time I had a problem sleeping was when I was in a nice deep sleep an around 2 am super trucker comes flying through the truck stop screamin his jakes. Not nice especially when ya know your alarm is set for 4 so you never really fall back asleep.

I have no problem sleeping as long as I need to...When I'm at home I usually sleep about 5 hours a night but when I'm in the truck I get 8 with no problem.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
The only time I ever had a problem sleeping was team driving. I could never get any rest if the truck was moving no matter how well I knew the other drivers abilities. But when I was solo I didn't have any problems no matter who was parked next to me. I'd watch TV for awhile or read and I'd get plenty of rest. The best was when I pulled overloads because you had to shutdown at sundown and couldn't drive until almost light. Of course I drove a solid 10 hours back then but had lots of time at night.

I sleep better in the truck on the road, when iam at home, i feel guilty to sleep to much. I go out and do to much at home, i need to hit the road to rest.
FriedTater and JustSonny Thank this.
