Thank you very much.
I hope Walmart points that out in a very forceful way in their reply to the OP

(2)What is provocative about any statement I have made? I do not expect a response to this either.
Walmart does not operate truckstops. Thats the truth. And thetruthhurts -
In case you forget, I quoted myself!
Why should anyone look down on another person because of their job? Especially if that person earns their living the same way? Assuming that you are telling the truth and you actually drove a truck for 50 years, why would a fellow driver wish to tear down one of their own???
All we are asking is the same rights and privileges that every one else is allowed.
Tell me something. Should we be allowed to idle when it's hot/cold outside? Should we expect equal protection from oppressive legislation or excessive overzealous law enforcement?
Just wondering since you seem to have such a low opinion of truck drivers! -
Care to furnish some examples of your being "treated with more contempt and disrespect than the average criminal!" as you state? I can say that I am not treated as such.Certainly, not being allowed to park a tractor trailer in some store parking lot doesn't equal being treated with disrespect or contempt. The goods I take to a grocery warehouse ends up in somebody's shopping cart and in their home. Might be I should be entitled to go park in their driveway as a result. I can differentiate between no trucks, and no truckers. I have been restricted from parking my truck somewhere ,but I have never been refused service somewhere because I was a trucker.
There is a recent video of a policeman punching a teenaged black girl for interfering with his writing a jaywalking ticket for her freind. I don't know you,but I strongly suspect that your support is for the policeman. But there are people who are saying it was racially motivated. Again I don't know you,but I suspect you would say that that was rubbish. Some of you sensitive truck drivers just come across to me as being too quick to pull the 'I am a poor disrespected victim because nobody loves me even though I bring their goods for them' card ,just as much as some people pull the race card, but somehow I doubt you will be able to understand my point of view. -
Have you SEEN a lot of the people out there calling themselves "truck drivers"? -
All I wanted was to be treated in the same manner as any other motorcyclist that came before him in his courtroom when dealing with a ticket I received while on my motorcycle.
I bet if I was a non-CDL holding parolee, the ticket would have been tossed.truckerdave1970 Thanks this. -
I chuckle to myself when I see an O/O's truck ,or a truck from a company who doesn't hire inexperienced drivers, in a wreck.I say to myself "look at that swiftie" as a way of mocking my fellow truck drivers who view drivers from certain companies in a disrespectful manner.Again I'm certain you are not of that mind set.
Hows that for my self esteem? -

And might I suggest not getting any tickets in the future, -
Quite the opposite, I understand what you are saying. I deplore the use of the "race card", "gender","age" or whatever the excuse that is convenient as much as you do. The "victim" mentality is way overdue for retirement! That being said, there are times that drivers are singled out for "special" treatment just because we drive!
Ohio state troopers have a well deserved reputation for picking on out of state drivers. In fact, most states have a entire police whose sole function is to enforce rules against truckers that only truckers have to obey. Is that not the definition of discrimination?
as to my personal experiences with discrimination because of my job, I have seen it several times. One incident in particular comes to mind. I was at a Cub Scout function, talking with a few other parents. Conversation drifted to what we all did for a living. I certainly did not look like a trucker, I was wearing a Scout leader uniform, clean shaven, freshly showered, but when these people found out I drive a truck for a living it was like I dropped my pants and dropped a turd in the middle of the group! I wish I could have gotten a picture of their faces!
Long story short, I was able to educate these people and dispel a lot of the negative stereotypes they had about truckers.
I understand that just because we deliver frieght, it does not "entitle" us to any special privileges or even a place to park. But it would sure be nice to be allowed to get to a grocery store or the like to buy the things we need since most of us don't go home every night. I believe that was the point of the original post.
Btw, my name is Dave. And when I was a trucker buddy to my oldest daughter's 2nd grade classroom (she is 21 years old now), The class knew me as "truckerdave". As a matter of fact, the teacher of that class is now the Assistant Superintendent and she still calls me "Truckerdave".
