Thank you for taking the time to reply, however, I've been around long enough to know what it means - it is a fancy term to dazzle people who don't know much about radios.

I also know Jay Bird was and I have a dozen or so Bird 43 (most common) with a lot of slugs. Some slugs are not the most accurate or the best to use for anything other than a good indicator of RF power. It is a good meter but not always the one to use in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use it.

This apparently was their head tech there, it was said in a condescending manner.

By the way, I absolutely agree with you, the test equipment doesn't make the tech.

BACK TO THE OP, get any radio, the 6666 is a good radio, but so is a 29. What matters is what was mentioned before - put some effort into the antenna and feedline. This matters most.

Yes both are 10 meter radios and can be converted to the CB band, as was mentioned. You can run them through the power source which is usually a 20 amp circuit. I think the cigarette lighter is 10 amp, worse case scenario is that you could blow the fuse. So the best power source is straight from the batteries. I believe both these radios have an adjustable power knob, which you can turn the power down if needed. But if you need to turn the power down, you might as well stick with a real CB radio.

I would venture to say the Cobra 29 is a much better radio right out of the box. No amount of tuning within your capability can make the 6666 sound the way you want it to sound or perform as well as the Cobra 29. The only way to redeem the quad 6 is to completely rebuild the RF section and make it perfectly linear, but that involves replacing all of the transistors with matched sets.

I notice that when Mud Duck bailed out on the 6666, somebody else here did the same. Before that, the 6666 was the best thing since sliced bread lol

Mine still is but you're not getting one quite like mine.
I would still recommend it over a striker radio, especially if you live in the desert in the southwest because the encoder is junk and stops working after you leave it inside the hot truck baking in the sun and the wax melts inside the encoder. The Anytone 6666 doesn't have that problem.

I wouldn't recommend anybody tamper with these things. I would always recommend a type accepted CB radio right out of the box and don't let anybody tamper with it for best performance.

Good choice. Best export radio for the money on the market right now IMHO! Your task now is do some research on the radio. It's way more complicated to setup properly than a regular CB. I suggest searching YouTube for videos regarding this radio. And above all......STAY OUT OF THE ENGINEERING MENU! Enjoy your new radio.
