Hey everyone! Thought someone could push, pull, or drag me in the right direction.

I haven't been on the road for over a year. Trying to find a good company that will give me a refresher course or training in the north east region. I'm from P.A and having major problems finding someone to take me on. Most companies want me to re-do my C.D.L license course. But I do drive part time as a dump driver with trailer for my fiances dad. I move equipment to and from job sites. But the money isn't there. Two or three days a month just isn't cutting it.

I have talked to many recruiters. But they always have some type of flaw. Most companies have a hold on there refresher and student programs. It seems I can only get in to companies that want me out for 3 to 5 weeks at a time. I have a five year old son that, I don't think would understand.

Anybody have info on companies with paid training That will keep me on the eastcoast, And have me home every week? Will contract a year or more as long as I don't have to dish anymore money out. The five grand i paid for my first school is still paying it's toll.

AFAIK there are no companies that will train or retrain you that do not take advantage of you by keeping you out on the road. They will also deduct training fees from your pay. Right now there is a shortage of good freight thus no good jobs and lots of competition for any available job. If you have work now be thankfull, try to parlay that into other areas. Diversify, maybe there are local runs one day a week. or night time work that you can do to supplement what you are now doing? Network network network. Almost all of the jobs I have found over the last few years are through friends and associates. Most advertised jobs are not desirable for one or more reasons. Do not fall into the lease a truck trap.

That's what alot of people been telling me. I've been an internet alian for over three weeks now trying to find that right decision.

I don't mind having to repay for my training threw a year contract with the right company. I have researched all the lease monsters out there. So I will stay far away from that nightmare!

Don't even mind going as far as the mid west on runs. Just can't adjust my life to being out for weeks at a time right now. After I get my experiance. I think I can slowly be out for longer. I tell my fiance that a one year contract over the road is all she will have to deal with.

After that, I have a local trucking company driving tanker that will get me home every day. With weekends off.

My school is giving a guy a 30hr refresher course. MVT is hiring him. He also has OTR experience.

Sm ome companies don't want to hire you even off the road for 6 months.
