If it "spoils the shopping experience" (which I NEVER found enjoyable in the first place) then why do you torment yourself so?
Just CHOSE not to shop there.
Save your health and sanity for "better" things.....like road-rage.![]()

people who acted out in such a manner were SHUNNED by Society and suffered REAL penalties, like HARD TIME in Prison, where prisoners had the snot beat out of them for misbehaving.
Not to mention, people back then were raised differently, where it was NORMAL and expected a parent discipline their children who acted in such a manner.
Today?
Parents don't discipline their kids for fear of being charged with a crime, and modern society celebrates "rebels" thru television and movies.GuysLady Thanks this. -
Me?
I KNOW I am not a "thief", so I don't let anything as insignificant as an 100 year old lady asking me to see my receipt "reduce my character".
And how did this even make it into your argument? -
Aren't you an accident looking for a place to happen?

It boggles my mind to see the "victim" mentality and so many folks ready to sue someone for checking their cart.. although I've found (having worked for a lawfirm) that 99% of people who swear they're going to sue someone over something (a) know nothing about the law, and they're making it up as they go, (b) have no idea if their particular situation breaches any laws, and (c) they don't know a lawyer by name, much less have one on retainer. As aggressive as some lawyers are, they still need a valid case and a meeting with you to get started.
Lighten up.
Walmart and other retailers lose MILLIONS, possibly billions of dollars per year through shoplifting. This measure of having some nice, non-confrontational person check you out on your way out is much better than metal detectors, x-ray cameras, etc ( a la TSA) or getting frisked.
This measure of being checked also prevents the stores from absorbing a rampant amount of shoplifting that would surely make prices of retail goods go through the roof - costing us all a buttload more money.
You want to keep your freedoms and dignity? Make people stop stealing stuff, acts that ruin it for all of us.
Speaking of dignity, as a driver, if you're tired of being treated like a homeless, uneducated dog, we could always convince ALL drivers to act, dress and drive professionally, thereby raising the standard and stereotype with which the public views us. I don't see that happening anytime soon.
