Sigh - the instant gratification society once again rears its ugly head. Patience in the trucking industry is a thing of the past, as evidenced here. It's a sad situation for all parties involved. Conjecture and assigning blame without knowing all the facts is reckless and irresponsible, IMO.

How about letting justice doing its thing? The WM driver is going to pay one way or another here - having to live with killing someone in a crash is somethig I would not wish on anyone.

you gotta read some of his comments

    its not just one thing

as a matter of fact, he proudly states he knew more about driving at 12yrs old than any 30yr veteran out here

It seems more likely you're just a rebel w/o a clue.

    Define "safely".

No, it's perfectly logical. You can't keep up with the flow and maintain adequate following distance... and the largest, heaviest, least maneuverable vehicles with the greatest stopping distance and potential for catastrophe should be the slowest vehicles on the road. What's so hard to understand about that?

Speeding traffic is responsible for any and all consequences of their velocity exceeding legal limits, not those in compliance. Period. If speeding traffic finds slower traffic an impediment, it's entirely their own fault.

Of course you don't, you don't have the first idea that you're even "operating equipment" much less how to do it. You think you're just driving a car with 18 wheels, and you can motor around like a 4-wheeler.

Maybe you'll be among the lucky ones whose habitual negligence and lack of sense of responsibility never catches up to them, or maybe like the Walmart driver. He was probably just going with the flow like he'd always done... then, whoops.

    "Plum Dumb"? :confused4:
Two words that rhyme but used together don't seem to make any sense.
So I thought about it. As defined the two words, when combined, cause me to be inclined to think
that lacking the power of speech is excellent and/or desirable.
    Now I'm confused.
    But I understand.
    That makes sense.
    I beg to differ.
A "professional" Big truck truck driver is capable and able to assess and evaluate current and immediate situations that may arise that are/were unforeseen by those tasked with setting speed limits. A "professional" driver will take all things into consideration before deciding the proper course of action that's best to take under (then) present circumstances.
In my opinion any driver who would knowingly impede life saving efforts by choosing to "never" drive over the posted speed limit doesn't fully understand the thought processes, actions and reactions of a true professional Big truck truck driver.
Driving as a profession doesn't make one a professional driver.
A professional driver does not always drive as a profession.
An amateur driver who considers them self to be a professional just might be plum dumb.
Refresh my memory; what reason(s) was/were said to be what caused the national speed limit to be reduced to a maximum of 55 mph?
As I recall it was to reduce our consumption and dependance on foreign oil and delivered in a package labeled 55 SAVES LIVES. One of which is accurate. The other is plum dumb.
So, it's more of a personal thing rather than a thing of safety for you?
Would you believe that there are those who don't drive 55 whenever they have enough time to do so who haven't had any close calls?
The CB radio is an electronic device capable of transmitting warnings concerning potentially dangerous situations in the interest of safety.
There are those who would consider turning off such a device to be plum dumb.
Why take it for granted that nothing will occur betwixt shipping and receiving to delay arrival on time?
When arriving early why just set around waiting?
Knowing you're there already is a chance to relax, if nothing else.
When it comes to Big truck truckin', --- there's always SOMEthing to do while waiting, --- besides setting around.
    Not always for everyone.
Not to mention there are far too many who consider themselves to be "professional"drivers when, in reality, they're not, --- but encourage others to be just like them.

    Ya reckon.

Is it possible that what you're saying was said is what you've imagined was said in your head?

All depends on how it's read or red, read or reed.
Is it attack or a tack?
    Who knows, nose or no's.
    Such is homonym.

Assuming, condescending, insulting, and possibly a personal attack on the poster.

I'm thinkin' anyone who has a problem with that is a problem.

Would you reconsider buyin' it if it were given a nice, new, fresh coat of paint?
Just don't look under the hood.

for some reason, drivers presume driving safely is letting your safety manager drive your truck

thats called robotic behavior and it is very dangerous because you have not developed the skills needed to adjust to changing circumstance

you just keep repeating to yourself, DRIVE SLOW and thats the beginning and end of your definition of professionalism

and the fact 100 vehicles are piled up behind you is not your concern, BECAUSE YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL

"LUCK" that's is a good way to describe it. I'd be will to bet that WM driver had a better safety record than you. That's not an attach on you. You may have a great record. But WM is rated at the top for safety. It's hard to hire on with them if you don't have a good record. This impeding traffic is a crock. IF you are doing within the speed limit you are not impeding traffic. IF you are doing the speed limit and some one pulls out in front of you you have a case. If you are doing 20 over you are going down. Sure I heard of the guy in California getting a ticket for doing 65. Then going back threw the same area doing 55 and getting a ticket for impeding traffic. You kill somebody, you best to had been doing the speed limit. That is. But he is going down the bottom line. The WM driver was most likely a good driver. But he is most likely going down now

the speed limit around DC 495 is 55mph

thats the MAXIMUM speed limit allowed by law

i see drivers like you everyday, riding in lane #3 because you can, even though the law states, SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT

and the cars and trucks you are impeding mean noting to you

to me, thats neither safe, nor professional, nor courteous

If the arguing and name calling continues this thread will be closed. Account bans have happened for repeat offenders. Frankly I'm surprised they've let it go on this long.
