Sigh - the instant gratification society once again rears its ugly head. Patience in the trucking industry is a thing of the past, as evidenced here. It's a sad situation for all parties involved. Conjecture and assigning blame without knowing all the facts is reckless and irresponsible, IMO.
How about letting justice doing its thing? The WM driver is going to pay one way or another here - having to live with killing someone in a crash is somethig I would not wish on anyone.

its not just one thing
as a matter of fact, he proudly states he knew more about driving at 12yrs old than any 30yr veteran out here -
Speeding traffic is responsible for any and all consequences of their velocity exceeding legal limits, not those in compliance. Period. If speeding traffic finds slower traffic an impediment, it's entirely their own fault.
Maybe you'll be among the lucky ones whose habitual negligence and lack of sense of responsibility never catches up to them, or maybe like the Walmart driver. He was probably just going with the flow like he'd always done... then, whoops.Shaggy Thanks this. -
no matter how i define safely, you will call it luck

Two words that rhyme but used together don't seem to make any sense.
So I thought about it. As defined the two words, when combined, cause me to be inclined to think
that lacking the power of speech is excellent and/or desirable.
Now I'm confused.
But I understand.
That makes sense.
A "professional" Big truck truck driver is capable and able to assess and evaluate current and immediate situations that may arise that are/were unforeseen by those tasked with setting speed limits. A "professional" driver will take all things into consideration before deciding the proper course of action that's best to take under (then) present circumstances.
In my opinion any driver who would knowingly impede life saving efforts by choosing to "never" drive over the posted speed limit doesn't fully understand the thought processes, actions and reactions of a true professional Big truck truck driver.
Driving as a profession doesn't make one a professional driver.
A professional driver does not always drive as a profession.
An amateur driver who considers them self to be a professional just might be plum dumb.
As I recall it was to reduce our consumption and dependance on foreign oil and delivered in a package labeled 55 SAVES LIVES. One of which is accurate. The other is plum dumb.
There are those who would consider turning off such a device to be plum dumb.
When arriving early why just set around waiting?
Knowing you're there already is a chance to relax, if nothing else.
When it comes to Big truck truckin', --- there's always SOMEthing to do while waiting, --- besides setting around.
Is it attack or a tack?
Who knows, nose or no's.
Such is homonym.
Just don't look under the hood. :smt112
The voice of reason has spoken.
ThanX for pointing that out Oil Jockey. -
for some reason, drivers presume driving safely is letting your safety manager drive your truck
thats called robotic behavior and it is very dangerous because you have not developed the skills needed to adjust to changing circumstance
you just keep repeating to yourself, DRIVE SLOW and thats the beginning and end of your definition of professionalism
and the fact 100 vehicles are piled up behind you is not your concern, BECAUSE YOU ARE A PROFESSIONALbullhaulerswife and EggoTrucker Thank this. -
gpsman Thanks this.

thats the MAXIMUM speed limit allowed by law
i see drivers like you everyday, riding in lane #3 because you can, even though the law states, SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT
and the cars and trucks you are impeding mean noting to you
to me, thats neither safe, nor professional, nor courteous -
I was bored so I read whole thread....most of you guys have gone into the wrong profession...... you should have been
Lawyers, worked for the NTSB, surveyors, professional debaters, or DOT
AfterShock and hawkjr Thank this. -
If the arguing and name calling continues this thread will be closed. Account bans have happened for repeat offenders. Frankly I'm surprised they've let it go on this long.
