Truck is stationed at DC. Many a Walmart driver commutes long distances to get unit at DC while waiting for a local DC spot to open. I know when I applied the DC was 130 from the house but considering I was after the 7/7 deal then no problem.

    Just my opinion....

In Texas speeding in a construction zone is like double everything. Is that just here or nationwide?

In Illinois minimum fine is 375.00 and can be doubled.

"...no one in the media or Gov. wants to hear it, he was probably up against his clock running out."

I suspect this is exactly what happened. The 14 hour rule, dreamed up by who knows who -- except that we know they weren't truck drivers -- had him pressing to make his delivery within the allotted time, which coincidentally also put him at a place to park and take his break (the WalMart store he was delivering to.) Had there been some flexibility built into the system, perhaps he wouldn't have needed to press to the point some innocent person got killed and others injured. I think this is a textbook case of the rules making the roads less safe, rather than more.

One other point I haven't seen discussed. The New Jersey Turnpike has speed limit signs that change instantaneously, controlled from some remote location. One moment, they read 65 and the next instant they could read 45, 55, 35 or whatever. I certainly don't know that this is the case, but one question would be what did the sign say when this driver passed it? Can anyone say for sure it read 45 and not 65?

On that stretch it's marked pretty well. He had 4-5 miles before the wreck to slow down.

Kind of makes you wonder if he was running with the flow of traffic to a point and then life sucked.
