I know the money is good at Walmart private fleet but if I am going to spend 10 thousand dollars a year paying for medical bills I might want to stay were I am at. I make around 85k a year pay nothing for my medical benefits and pay 60 dollars a month in union dues.

I am trying to get some good info and make the right decision. Thanks

Actually, the HMO here is a 75/25 with $1500 deductible and $5000 max out of pocket.

However, this is in AZ. The plans can very widely based on where the DC is. I would talk to HR for that DC and ask them for an outline for the plan.

    TomOfTx Thanks this.

Out of Pocket (OOP) maximum for the year is the key item I look for in a medical insurance policy. The OOP maximum should be a dollar amount a person can absorb financially should you need extensive medical treatment in any given year.

When I had vascular surgery in 2012, which included placing a Gore Viabahn endoprosthesis inside my right leg, the amount billed by the hospital for all my care was $243,000. I only paid my maximum OOP expense of $3000. I had additional treatment and follow up visits as well, and all were covered at 100% for the remainder of 2012 since I already met my OOP maximum for the year.

Yes sir tomoftx you are correct. Let's assume that I will pay my deductible and oop max each year with my wife's diabetes.
Right now I pay nothing out of pocket for my insurance and a 400 dollar deductible and 2000 oop max.
Let's assume Walmart would be a 1500 deductible and 4000 oop max.
There is a 3100 dollar difference plus about 5000 dollars to pay for the insurance so it would cost me about 8100 dollars more a year plus possible higher prescription prices. Maybe

So lets say 10k a year more out of my pocket.

So the big question is, if I am making 85k a year now am I going to be able to make enough money at Walmart to make up the difference in insurance cost? I would probably need to make 100k at Walmart gross to break even. Thanks for everyone's responses
