Did Mom & Pop employ hundreds of people?
Did Mom & Pop pay well above a "Living Wage"
If Mom & Pop was so great, and adored by the community why did their loyal customers stop shopping at their store?

Consumers speak with their dollars. There are many higher end products and specialty goods one cannot purchase at WM. For those I shop at the specialty mom & pop stores. If everyone did this mom & pop would still be there.

For some of us the thought of being micro managed, on an elog, and driving a plastic aero truck at 65mph just doesn't work...
We didn't all come thru mega fleet CDL mills..

But hey, good luck finding 900 drivers out of the circus of steering wheel holders out here now.

I'm not angry, nor do I wish any ill will, just stating fact, the big kid on the block comes and go's.the more things change the more things stay the same, you just have to do the best you can as often as you can and don't forget the golden rule,do unto others, then split.

If I could roll the clock back to the 80's when Sam Walton was still running the show and took care of his drivers, I'd maybe hire-on. But now? It's basically just Swift with better wages and even more corporate BS to contend with.

Not really. Cell phone policy sucks, but you can deal with it (they only get to look at cellphone records if you're in an accident). Other than that, I come in, do my job, go home at the end of the week. Generally, I've grossed around $2000 for the week.

And you get left lane privileges at your DC's. :p
If I was ever to go back to being a company driver, Walmart would be my first call.

Most of the areas I go to, the posted legal speed limit for trucks is 65mph. I set the cruise and don't worry a bit about a bear in the middle shooting radar.
