    LOL.....that is about the truth!

WalMart uses "outside carriers" when things get busy. And, they contract most all of their reefer work. Swift and Great Wide are two of the grocery haulers I know of. WalMart has some company drivers at the grocery DCs, but not many. You are correct, the good money is being a "company driver".

I got told by a person at a DC in Greenville Tn that right when i tick 250k safe miles that he could get me on with WM. That is what I intend on doing. I am at 68k now and get around 2600 a week on average

I was wondering if you could answer some questions for me. I have an interview next week at a DC. Can you tell me what kind of questions they ask? What should I ask? My biggest question right now would be how many other drivers are going to be interviewing for the same job? Or do they just interview one at a time til they find who they're looking for? I have a 4 hour drive to the DC and worry that I'll be up against other drivers for the one opening. Also, I want your advice...I currently make 62k/year, m-f home every night day cab job that is secure and I'm happy with. But I always wanted to drive for Walmart. Based on what I just told you, would you advise me to pursue the job with Walmart should it be offered to me, or would you advise me to stay in my current job? I will not mind working weekends and being away from home for 5 days at a time as long as it's worth it. Would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you so much. My interview is next Wednesday. Would like to know what to expect.

I wanted to get back to this thread.
Been working at Wal Mart for five months now and I must say,I love it!
    No complaints.
They are great with the money and already received a bonus. Home daily and the way the route is I am on now I only drive three to four days a week.

i do lots of work with WM. they have a bit of their own language. And it will help you in the interview to use some of their terms. An employee is an associate. Departments are often teams. There no issues and problems, just challenges and opportunities. Good luck
