I'm trying to get started hauling Frac sand on my own. I currently work for someone, but want to start doing it as an owner/operator. Any advice were to start. Cost? We're to get the trailers and so forth. I'm in the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex.

I've hauled frac sand from 2009 to 2011. Got out of it for the most part, the rates aren't what they used to be. PM ME if you need companies to lease on to. 2012 to newer trailer is going to cost you around 68k. You can get a decent trailer for around 35-45k. Spend another 4-8k on a blower, another 1,200 on hoses. Then it's all up to you what type of truck to get... Make sure the trucks is capable to go on the lease roads...

That's a lot if dough! But I got hood credit so that may help. I would like some companies that I could lease with. That would be helpful. What about having my own authority? How would that work out?

Oakley transport Beebe AR. Tuttle and Tuttle they are close to Dallas. Rocky mountain hotshot Rifle Colorado. Trucks with small pneumatics, already rigged and hooked together are ricked up like cord wood knee deep and cheep in White, Clebourne, and Jackson county Ar. Drillers promised twenty years boys. If you buy a truck your gauranteed a job. they shut the rigs down like turning a water spicket off.

Flex frac is gone. The new name is Quick Sand, although the advice is exactly the same. JHJ or J Hearn is up there in Weatherford. They have a decent reputation and I've done a couple wells with them. They would be the first company i would call if it was looking to do the O/O thing. Either way, good luck.

I think Quicksand is also running with the name Stinger. They seem to have the same stickers as Quicksand pasted on the side of their truck. Either way, most of their equipment looks like it should have been retired by now.

Did you have your own trailer or lease from company. What would you recommend for top three trailers and would you lease or purchase your own trailer. pros and cons

Naw, I was just a company driver so I was using their trailer. I havnt been running pneumatics very long so my advice is limited. I couldnt tell ya what the best trailers are but I do prefer the lightweight aluminum ones. I would go with whatever is affordable with solid construction and has good enough axles to handle the pounding that the oilfield has to offer
