I hope it works out for you. For me, after going through a training program, there is so much stuff the school never even mentioned. Plus being out in the world doing the stuff that you know with someone next to you makes it a whole lot easier.

Watkins Shepard is a LTL carrier so you will get the opportunity to touch a lot of freight, especially hauling out of Conover, NC. 99% of freight leaving Conover is furniture. As a driver you are responsible for moving the freight to the tail gate. Some receivers will do 100% of the work others wont. You do get paid for every stop and it can add up when you have 10 stops in a day. Once again, like the 10 day orientation, it's not for everybody.

I agree, this is not going to be the easiest thing I've ever done but I'm up to the challenge. Should be interesting.

went to WIA orientation friday. case manager all but said that CDL training is an easy program to get funds for (not always the case, it depends on the amount of money they have for transportation related training, it's different in every city/county and state, but for charlotte should be noooo problem, hopefully!) now i just gotta start the lengthy process! don't forget the computer seawheeler! gotta keep us updated during your orientation... goodluck man!

You'll get through the WIA stuff in about 3 weeks if your case manager isn't overwhelmed. Good luck. Ya tomorrow is my big day, first day of orientation at W/S. I'll let you know how it goes.
